In reviewing captured documents, intelligence reports, news articles and related information, conservative estimates indicate that these personnel are unable to explore as much as 90% of the information available to them due to mission, time and resource constraints. Automated, deep natural-language understanding technology may hold a solution for more efficiently processing text information. If successful, DEFT will allow analysts to move from limited, linear processing of insurmountable quantities of data to a nuanced, strategic exploration of available information.
